I went to Collecticon and all I have to show for it is

A photo.

Nothing more. I took my camera out to shoot, and it kept conking out on me. So I only got a couple of shots of the same thing. Here’s the photo. They are customs of X-men figures and were displayed at one of the sellers’ booth. These are so amazing! I really love that paint job on Storm. Probably the highlight of my day at Day 1 of Collecticon.

There were a few cosplayers around, like maybe 4 I’m not sure, but not a lot to generate the usual crowd that blocks up the entrance to the area. There weren’t that many collection displays either. I think only 3 display cabinets had figures in them, unlike in previews cons where there were display cases filled to capacity with figures, and big elaborate dioramas on tables. I don’t think I noticed if there were any submissions to a toy photography contest as well.

I heard some talk about Day 3 being cancelled, and going around, we saw a sign tacked to the wall on the stage that said Day 3 was indeed, cancelled. I never learned why. I can only surmise that it could be due the storm that was supposed to hit that weekend. Of course, I could be wrong.

Back to the toys.

I actually saw probably two or three things that I liked, but didn’t get. Like that loose Snake Armor He-man, and a Lego Minifig. The loose minifigs were expensive this year—upwards of Php300.00 a piece; decided not to get He-man because he was really dirty and I wasn’t sure if the accessories were complete, and with a Php500.00 price tag, I decided not to get him. I’m now having second thoughts. Maybe I should have just gone ahead and bought the figure.

Collecticon was a bust. I met up with my buddy Drew round lunchtime at the venue, and we both ended up going home with nothing . Well, not really nothing because Drew bought a TMNT figure at Toys R Us. Oh well. I hope next year’s con will be better for me.
